Avoiding Poisonous Plants And Snake Bites While Hiking

Avoid deadly plants

Know the perpetrators. Trails and camping spots here can be overgrown with brush, particularly from spring through summer. Immobilize the bitten limb with a splint and keep it raised above the heart to reduce swelling and minimize the growth of venom. Don't apply a tourniquet. 4. Hike out calmly, giving your partners your pack weight. Seek medical attention right away.
